I am truly sorry and saddened by the loss of Dave Anstee. I am sure Dave will be missed dearly, last but not least within the scientific community and the transfusion world. I remember our vivid discussions during my post-doc time at the University of Bristol, on the possibilities and impossibilities of culturing blood and many other aspects of erythropoiesis and transfusion related topics. You were a leader in the field of blood group system and transfusion research and leave us with a vast legacy of your work to inspire people. I hope that your family but also colleagues take comfort from cherished memories.
